Here is an update of some of the things Louis and I have been up to the past few weekends. We have...
Made homemade chicken taco pizza. It was really good.
Contemplated buying crazy Japanese winter baby hats for Maeve and Amelia (decided they were too out there...) and visited Starbucks.
Bought a cream puff from a local place that sells eggs on what the Americans here refer to as "Chicken Farm Road". These egg places make the BEST custard. Also note how the packaging makes it look like the cream puff has a face. Typical Japanese.
Found a decent priced, traditional Japanese restaurant that is near our house with a waitress that speaks excellent english! Louis and I are also finally getting the hang of the "clean plate club" rule that most Japanese people follow. (Before and after pictures are from top to bottom.) It is impolite to leave food on your plate, and they don't have doggie bags to take it home with you!
Found a local breakfast place that is DELICIOUS! It also happens to be the same place we buy our eggs from.
Enjoyed a perfectly scooped ice cream cone from Baskin Robbins, ate some ramen from a cheap to go place, and enjoyed some Yakitori (grilled meat on skewers) at a place where no one spoke english. I am pretty sure they were talking about us the entire time we were there. Very uncomfortable. However, Louis assumed that the yellow sauce you see on the plate in the picture below was mustard and dipped his first skewer into it, getting a generous amount... just to realize that it was wasabi. Ha. Made the trip totally worth it.
Learned that what we had assumed was extra long grass covering our front yard is actually onions.
Found out our favorite egg place also sells eggs from a vending machine (pictured below) and makes the best pudding you have ever tasted.
Made whole wheat carrot cake pancakes for breakfast on Easter, and figured out that Louis will eat a quiche for dinner so long as it contains sweet potatoes.
We've eaten lots of sushi. Some stand outs are pictured below.
Corn Salad, tamagoyaki (egg omelet), and salmon.
And we played with Lou's Bocce ball set for the first time. I am glad we have a picture of it before we played with it. It was shortly after I finished the beer I am holding in the picture that I attempted to throw one of the balls over the sidewalk... It didn't make it... It now has a huge chip.... Louis was not happy...
Thank goodness I had bought potato chips to eat while we drank beer. I think it is the only reason he forgave me.
